Cerberus Rapid Backup and Restore provides a disk based tape replacement backup and restore facility for critical systems and data. This service, fully managed through Datashare’s Management Control Centre provides a solution for the rapid backup and restoration, both locally and offsite, of full systems, individual files or Microsoft™ Exchange Data.

As part of the managed service we operate a 'We fit, you forget' policy which means that you can have complete peace of mind when it comes to data backup & recovery, be that for one individual file, or a complete server room data loss scenario.

Infrastructure

Cerberus Rapid Backup & Restore is a simple low cost high value service that protects business data and information assets. Based upon your volume of Data and number of servers to be protected Datashare installs an Image GateWay Server(s) (IGWS) on the local area network that typically snapshots data nightly. This snapshot frequency can be increased for systems which have a shorter recovery point objective (RPO).

Security

Once copied the data is then transported via a secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) to Datashare's Image Data Centre (IDC). All data is encrypted on the VPN and whilst located in the IDC so there is no need to worry about unauthorized parties being able to interrogate your company data.

Backup

The backup or snapshot procedure is automated nightly and then checked by a Management Control Centre (MCC) Operator each day to ensure that the right amount of data has been captured, copied and secured through to the IDC.

Restore

Data can be restored from the local IGWS or the IDC network either by the client's IT department or by Datashare's MCC Operator. We can even provide this down to individual email items in a specific user's mail box - providing the company with excellent depth of restore.

E-Mail Recovery

Recovery of mail items and mail boxes are simple and easy. The snapshot and restore process takes seconds and the manageability is beyond any tape management package available on the market today.

Data Retention

Data Retention policy is defined by the customer but typically, as part of the service, between one and three months amount of daily granular backups are held on the local IGWS (Online Backup) and IDCS (Near line Backup). Data backups are then further archieved off to both tape and disk to 2 seperate location (offsite archive) for the duration f the agreement.
